I got transmission fluid shooting out the dipstick tube and getting all over my engine and smoking like crazy... especially at higher rpms. My transmission has also started to slip on me. The truck is a chevy 3/4 ton with a 350 engine, 4 barrel carborator. Any ideas on what is could be or is my transmission just dying on me?

Reguardless of overfilling if it is slipping when full then yes- it is dieing. Good-rebuilt T-350's with flushed torque conv's are the best way forward. Be sure to get an exact replacement if you exchange it out-(compare side-by-side).More than $400 is too much. Be sure to flush the cooler lines and blow them out before installation. Relpace the vacuum lines and make sure the kickdown cable is perfect.Don't forget to 'grease' the driveshaft yoke. While you're there check the u-joints and check the yoke for grooveing-(may need a speedy sleeve).

More than likely not 100% sure you have a 400 turbo in it instead of a trubo 350 tranny. Sounds like you got some valves sticking. My suggestion is go to your local NAPA get some Sea Foam for a tranny follow the instructions on it when you put it in. Then change out your tranny oil and filter.

stuck pump pressure regulator or badly blown seals, or wayyyyyy too much tranny fluid will cause this
