On the plus side, there are very few visitors to Disney World in August, so getting into rides will be very easy. On the down side, it is very hot in Central Florida, and it can feel very oppressive for those used to a colder enviroment -- who we affectionately call, "Snow Birds."

If you do not mind the heat, then by all means, go during August. I recommend breaking up your day; i.e., go there when they open up in the morning, leave aronud 1PM, and come back after the sun goes down. Disney World should be experienced during both times, especially at closing when the fireworks go off,

August can be hot, in my experience July is a little warmer. But for most people it isn't too bad. Since you are used to a cold climate though, it may be a little harder for you.

If you are going at the beginning of the month it can still be pretty busy, right before more schools go back. It usually isn't as bad as the rest of the summer, but it can be crowded. Toward the end of August, like the last two weeks or so, Disney has offerred free dining to onsite guest with packages for the past few years. It is a great deal.

Personally I don't think that August is that bad, but if you are used to cold weather and have a hard time with heat, you may consider going during one of the cooler months. Still kind of warm, but a lot better than the summer!

Been there in August. It was 2 years ago. The heat was oppressive, the humidy was high and the lines were long. I would try for a time when it is less crowded. I have heard that September is a good time. According to this site, http://www.usatourist.com/english/places/florida/disneytips.html The slowest months are January, September, October and November with the busiest times being mid-February to August. You might want to allow a few days to recoup from your vacation as well. Disney is a lot of fun, but it has you on the go. We spent 5 days there and did not come close to seeing everything.

I haven't been to DW in awhile, but I would say August or September wouldn't be too bad of times to go. That is when all the kiddos are going back to school, so the lines shouldn't be too long. It will be hot, but there are misters everywhere, and just be sure to drink plenty of water. Have fun! Did you know you can now stay in Cinderella's Castle? Not sure how much it is, but that would be cool!

Yes, I live in FL and August is the worst month..it is way too hott and you time spent at Disney won't be as good as if you went in October or Nov. The only good thing about going in Aug, is no crowds...but the heat will be unbareable.

Yes. It's hot and the weather is miserable. The best time to go, and i speak from experience, is around September. The kids are back in school and there is zero wait. They also tend to have better off season deals. August also puts you in the middle of hurricane season.

August is hot... I went when I was little for New Years. That was fun and it was great to get out of the snow in Dec/Jan.
