it's not addictive at all. it's just when you keep smoking it your body becomes more tolerant of it and you eventually have to keep smoking more in order to feel the high. then when pot doesn't give you a high at all anymore, that's when you move on to heroine, which is highly addictive. is this true? will pot hurt me?

Yes pot will hurt you. It is addictive, and yes you need to smoke more to get a high soon enough. Not everyone moves onto harder drugs, but its possible. I would venture to guess that every - or nearly every heroin addict started with a joint.

Pot is illegal, period. For that alone you will get hurt. But, the fact is you are dealing with less than reputable people when it comes to getting your pot. You have no idea what they did to it, mixed in it, or if they peed on it. You just don't know. Even if you 'know' the guy who grew it, you have no idea for absolutely sure. There are no inspectors of pot plants, no one watching over these people.

Would you pick up a cigarette off the ground stick it in your mouth and smoke it? No? Why? You don't know where it has been. Would you eat a salad or any food for that matter from the grocery store floor?

Think twice before beginning a habit that is both illegal and gross.

It is easier to quit pot than other drugs because of the way it is stored in your body, but I think that 'not addictive at all' is a stretch. It is certainly less addictive than cigarettes, and probably alcohol, but if you smoke it a lot, you'll want to have some around. As for being a stepping stone to hard drugs, that is a myth, but you should note that mj's illegal status means that if you can find pot, you know where to find other drugs.

It isn't as bad as other drugs, but you can't say it is harmless. You won't need to be stoned all the time--you can go a while without it. Since some of the active ingredient is stored in your fat cells, if you go without it your body will gradually wean you off it--releasing enough that you won't crave it badly like cigarettes or heroin.

The biggest problem with pot is that you tend to waste your time when you are on it. It makes boredom OK. That's good occasionally, but at some point, you just have to lay down the pipe and be less boring.

Smoking pot isnt good for you but it isn't as bad as most people try to make it out to be. As a teenager you have a lot of issues and problems and sometimes you just need release. Its better than cutting your wrist and its better than shooting up your school because your pissed at people and it is not the worst drug out there. I would actually say alcohol is worst b/c you can die from drinking to much and it impairs your brain more when it comes to driving. The reason most people are so against pot is b/c its illegal. If it wasn't then they'd be less worried about it. Like teenage drinking..illegal but it happens. Its normal. Pot kills brain cells but it doesnt make everyone stupid. There are the smart pot heads who still make good grades. And its NOT addictive. SMoking cigs is more addictive and has the same side effects besides the effect on your brain cells. People who haven't smoked say it is b/c they heard it from somewhere. But I quit cold turkey and haven't smoked in six months and it wasn't ahrd at all. Its your life live it how you want to. But no your limits and I wouldn't suggest other drugs either. But you should choose whether you think its right or wrong.

Pot is not just harmless fun. I think it is probably the least harmful recreational drug, but it's still a drug. A lot of people start with pot and move on to other drugs. I don't think it's because pot doesn't work anymore as much as it is they are looking to experience a different type of high. Pot may not hurt you, but if you smoke it often it will affect your life. Just look at the Stoner's at school. Habitual users do tend to be less motivated. It also depends on your personality. Some people have addictive personalities and once they start drugs have a hard time stopping. So yes smoking pot may not start out as harmful, but it can be. Do you want to take that chance?

I believe pot is refered to as the gateway drug, because it can lead you into other drugs. but it's all by your choice... I've also heard that when you need a lot to get high if you stop, because it's a psychological addiction, if you start again your tolerance will have gone away. I have no idea how long it would take to lose your tolerance if it's built up or if that's even really true. But you are okay with smoke pot, not legally, but it's not going to kill you... Good luck!

I wouldn't say pot is harmless, but I won't disagree about it being fun. But I honestly believe it's a gateway drug! Once you smoke pot (and possibly enjoy it) you're going to want to experience other highs. That's what I did, anyway. As for the fun of it, I wouldn't necessarily call it "fun". You get pretty retarted, slow, and super mellow. Then again, your heart is racing at a crazy pace which might cause you to get paranoid. That's why I quit after years of being a pothead- it made me get anxiety after a while. It has TONS more chemicals in it than cigarettes and will cause lung cancer!!! More than that, it can cause cancer of the mouth and throat, and it can cause heart disease. I do think it's better than drinking alcohol, though. Just do it in moderation so you don't build a tolerance, if you do it at all. And remember: It's ILLEGAL. If you do the crime, be prepared to do the time if you get caught!!!! Happy toking!

It depends on if you have an addictive person ality for alot of people they move on to something else cause the high isnt as good anymore then for people like me that smoke socially it gets you high everytime but i smoke like 1 or 2 times a month and ive never done another drug but weed is no worse than drinking or smoking cigarettes but still i would really advise for you to stay away from it cause even though i dont smoke alot when i have a bad day the first thing i think about is smokin a joint so dont do it it may be fun but you could be on the path to something far far worse and remember thc is a mild form of acid so say by by to your brain cells but teens have alot of problems and its better for you than drinking or trying to kill yourself just remember that if you get in to deep and you think about other drugs remember what people do to get those other drugs theyre prostitutes and theives so be very careful take it from an old hippy dude i know trust me but please dont smoke i smoke because i have cancer and im going to die either way but dont destroy your fragile young heart or lungs for a buzz its not worth it

Addiction to pot is no less dangerous than addiction to other illegal drugs. In some respects it may be even more dangerous because the pot smoker believes he or she is in control. It's an illusion as the weed itself becomes the most important part of life in place of family and friends.
You may not be able to reason with him when he says that what he does affects his body only and not yours.

Of course that's not true but it's more of a subjective argument as you try to tell him that second hand pot smoke is dangerous to you. Or that pot smoking has been proven to cut sperm count in men. Or that some male pot smokers are easy to spot because they have enlarged breasts.

He could care less. He could care less that you know his pot smoking will cut his response time so that he might end up in a traffic accident that a sober driver could avoid.

The marijuana industry -- because it's illegal is obviously not regulated. I have a friend who got some very bad weed. Some sort of pesticide had been sprayed on it. she ended up brain damaged. It can be very dangerous and it is addictive. You can never be certain what you are getting. I use to smoke on a regular basis, now I'm to afraid to smoke. Don't start.

You can get lung cancer but before that you will become very stupid because that's what pot does to people, it kills brain cells. Then when you're so stupid you move on to heroine your hair and teeth will fall out so you'll be stupid and ugly and have scabs and marks all over your arms. Then one day your stupid and ugly self will get aids from using other peoples needles or overdose and you'll be dead either way. Go find something else to do for harmless fun.
