Could anyone possibly enlighten me further towards a job title as "AV and Bench Engineer" in a company called Ramesys (www.ramesys.co.uk). Generally speaking, it provides ICT solution to educational organisation.

What exactly does an acronym "AV" stand for in this particular job role. Beside, what's "Bench Engineer" & what sort of duties would be expected.

Beside, does anyone around know much about Ramesys company itself, in addition to what's already mentioned on their website.

Present job description says:

"This is a nationwide role assisting and supporting Technical Engineers with the installation of hardware and software. This is a demanding position, for which over night stays may be necessary; this can range from 1 night per week to 2/3 nights per week depending on the customers requirements. This is a physical role, where you can expect that to be lifting and working with heights on a daily basis".

I'm already working, in a contact centre environment, for the Capita group, to provide technical help to customers of Dixon groups, especially those buying PC & laptop. Bearing in mind my intense passion within IT, this job has given me a platform to develop my skills & an opportunity to widen my horizon.

Since, I’m less comfortable with this job (as I’ve passion & expectation of YET to learn more from this job) I’m just torn between whether I should consider taking job at Ramesys, leaving the present one OR shall I do BOTH at the same time, perhaps one on a full-time & other on a part-time basis ??? Both job offers a fantastic opportunity within IT & I wonder if anyone could point me in the right direction to be able to do both jobs at the same time.

My guess is that AV means "Audio/Visual" and may have something to do with setting up distance learning systems. These are systems that allow an Instructor to teach a course where they may have some students located in remote classrooms, but the students can see and hear the session in real time and interact with the class as if they were physically present.

AV is Audio Visual. Bench engineers typicaly would be expected to diagnose and repair things.
