The song was in the credits of Benny and Joon, however it was put in the sound track because Mary Stuart Masterson was listening to the Proclaimers music while waiting her shot on camera. She approached the director and introduced him to the music and her fav song, "Im gonna be" and asked if the song could be IN the movie. After consideration it was added and helped power the Proclaimers career.
The song wa later used in a Canadian beer commercial where two musicians where standing at the border of the USA and Canada and an american comes walking over the borde hikes thru the mountains and valley to beer store, walks back and as he hits the border he drops the case of beer, shrugs his shoulders and goes back to get another.

No, it came from The Proclaimers release 'Sunshine on Leith' in 1988 but it has been featured in several movies since most notably in 'Benny & Joon' with Johnny Depp.
