I like my accent. It's one that when everybody hears, they automatically know I'm from the South. Did you know that we actually have the closest accent to the one that was the original before our accents were influenced by all the explorers? The Northerners are the ones with the "funny" accents. They've been influenced the most, so they're accent is a greater variation. What do you think of this?

Northerners are snobs. They talk funny, they talk fast, and I can't understand them. I love southern accents. But, unfortunately, I don't have a strong one. A friend of mine has a strong southern accent and I just love to hear him talk. It's friendly and comforting. Northerners just...talk weird. And I have no clue why. I guess 'cause they live closer to Canada.

Not everyone hates Southern people's accent. Now, I'm pretty sure no one really cares about whose accent is original and all that jazz. I'm from the south, and although my accent isn't super heavy, a lot of people from different places have told me that they like it.

When the pilgrims landed, on American soil, NONE of them had southern accents! Therefore, I don't know how in the world you think your 'southern accent' is original!
I do not know where the 'southern accent' came from. Whenever I call a 'customer service' number (for any business) and the person answers with a 'southern accent' - I automatically know I'm speaking with someone in the 'south'.
To me, the 'southern drawl' is pure laziness.
Do you realize that the state which is the furtherest south, their residents do NOT have a 'southern drawl'............................
I lived there, Florida, for nearly 10 years and I NEVER heard it coming from anyone. The residents, in Florida, consider the 'southern drawl' typical for those living in the north and they consider it pure laziness too.
Sometimes it's cute - but NOT when your running a business; it just makes a person sound ignorant and like their hillbillies.

So you've gone to each and every person in this world and asked them if they hate southern peoples accents? No. You did not so why make a general statement like that? That's how bias starts.

I think it's a load of bologna. Southern accents are what they are and so are those of northerners. How does it make any difference as long as you can comprehend someone when they speak?

I don't think many people hate that accent. I think sometimes if someone talks reaaaalllyy slllooooow then it's like OK spit it out already. But whatever- people talk like wherever they grew up, that's how it is.
