Anyone has the access to technology which is a worrying factor.

At the end of the day the serious problems of the world are still here and new ones have been created like global warming and a hole in the ozone layer.
These things will kill us and the planet, and no science and technology are going to stop it.
And it's always possible that one day some nit will push a button and blow us all into infinity before we have actually finished destroying the planet and ourselves - the dinosaurs were here for 230 million years and left the place intact - we have been here a mere 100 thousand years and look at the mess we've created!
