After an interview you should always write a follow-up letter. You should thank the person for the interview, tell them that you are interested in the position and tell them that you are looking forward to hearing from them. I wouldn't call, but I would send a letter. It looks very professional.

If you're interested in the job, call them back about three weeks after your interview. You can simply ask if they have completed the interview process for the position you were seeking, and ask when the company thought they would be making a final decision. You know, sometimes the interview process can take months, especially if it's a six figure job. For that kind of money, the "powers that be" are going to think long and hard about the candidates qualifications. This isn't like applying for a desk clerk job at a hotel.

It is common practice to make a follow up call after an interview. Not only will it ease you mind by letting you know (or at the very least giving you a hint) where you stand, it also shows the interviewer that you are interested in their company.
Many people say that is the "deal sealer" while others do not take it near that seriously. Below I left you a link to let you see what Monster.com's take is on it.
Good luck! :)

You have to consider that there may be more candidates who were interviewed and the company usually takes some time to make decisions. Having said this, you must contact them back after a while (say 2 weeks after your interview) to check how they are coming up with a decision, this will also show your concern and interest, but watch out (dont sound pushy :) and yes Good Luck !

If you haven't heard back in a week a follow up call by you will not make a difference. It might have if you had made the call the day after the interview to express your thanks and hope that you might be able to work for the company, but don't do it a week later. If you had done it earlier it would show that you follow up and that things are important to you. To do it now just shows the opposite.

If its been a week i would give them a call to see what is goin on. To see if they still had me in mind so u can move on to the next step. Theres nothin wrong with callin them. It's rude they havent called u yet and let u know what the deal is. So just call and politely ask. Nothin wrong with that, that makes u seem even more interested in the job.

Since it's one week later I would call. might also want to consider sending the interviewer a thank you note.
Open with something like:
"Hello I really enjoyed our conversation last week and I'm just calling to follow up...."

write a follow up thank you email. even if you already wrote a thank you letter. just write another one. be very courteous and polite. put your self in a state of mind that you are writing this letter as if you already have other pending offers..... u'll come off more confident and straight to the point.

Absolutely call him back and ask. Be polite but straight forward.
There is nothing wrong for being persistence and certainly knowing where you life stands.
