* Transforming our hearts, and minds – for peace of mind & Happiness ! *
1) Be in a comfortable position, whether sitting or lying down.
2) Have someone watch your children for about 10 or 15 min. [Increase in time, after practicing for a month].
Then close your eyes, and concentrate totally on your breathing.
3) At the end of your first inhalation of oxygen, count One. Keep doing this until you get to ten. Remain patient with yourself. {Continue patiently throughout this disciplinary practice).
4) Then focus your attention on breathing only through your nostrils, which filter out all
the things, which are not healthy to breath into your lungs. Be aware of the various
sensations through your nostrils, while you continue the counting. When you get to
ten, start again at one. This disciplinary practice should take only 10 – 15 min. total time.
5) When a distracting thoughts enters your mind allow them to pass through {your mind], w/out
analyzing them, or judging them, or trying to fix them. Then gently, patiently bring your full
attention back to your breath. Every time, a distracting thought {any thought which would take your attention of your breath), comes to your mind, you need to use this skillful method to bring your full attention, back to your breath. Thoughts do come into our minds, especially
worrisome, or pressing thoughts which indicate to us that we have an anxious mind.
Just be patient w/yourself, and keep practicing. **"There is already proven evidence of the Success of The Mindfulness of Breathing Exercises Proven by Dr. Jon Kabat-Zinn PhD
and by many other Psychologists, Psychiatrists, Scientists, & Cognitive Behavioral Therapists! They give much evidence through clinical studies, that The Mindfulness of Breathing (or mindfulness meditation – another name for this practice) dissolves stress, anger, depression,
worry, impatience, intolerance, fear, anxiety, & many other unhealthy spiritual/mental/emotional states, we so often fall into. Dr. Jon Kabat-Zinn PhD. Wrote a best seller called, “Coming to our Senses” which teaches the mindfulness of breathing (mindfulness meditation). And there is an Excellent book out called, “The Beginner’s Guide to Insight Meditation” By: Arinna Weisman and Jean Smith, which teaches Mindfulness of Breathing, Loving-kindness Meditation while walking to exercise, & Insight Meditation (a higher form of meditation, which greatly helps us to accurately, & clearly see things, people, & situations as they really are, so we’re Not held captive by our unwholesome thoughts, and reactions toward others, & situations in life. Some people use prayer, along with the mindfulness of breathing, to help them in life. Whatever methods one uses, should not be criticized, judged or condemned. Practicing what Jesus taught in Matt. 7:1-5 on not judging, criticizing, or condemning others is important in order for us to experience a healthy spiritual, mental, and emotional life. We are help accountable for the transformation of our own lives, not others. If you’re a little impatient when it comes to results, especially for dissolving anger, I encourage you to read the book, “Working With Anger” By: Thubten Chodron. Has 3 chapters on Training our mind & spirit in Patience; the book helps us see that our personal enemies are anger, hatred, pride and unforgiveness. It is actually a very encouraging book. The Author is also a Psychologist. Many find Prayer quite helpful, to help them gain self-confidence, guidance, comfort, security, & to help them deal with problems, & challenges of Life. And this is great too. The key is that we are gentle, patient, & forgiving with ourselves through the process of transforming our minds, to acquire peace of mind, and happiness. Some religions indicate the importance of renewing & transforming our minds, & as a result - their lives. Rom. 12:2 is an example of just that! A good friend shared with me that Jesus saved his spirit, but it was his responsibility to work out the salvation of his soul {he shared with me that the soul is the Mind, will, & emotions). He said to me that it says this in the book of James. This is done through Rom. 12:2, thus dissolving pride, hatred, and condemnation toward others. This information he shared with me inspired & encouraged me. I sincerely believe, as Jesus taught humanity in Matt. 7:1-5, that not judging, or criticizing, and condemning others, or ourselves is important toward peace of mind. It’s important that we respect beliefs {not judging or condemning them), allowing them to work out (as my friend shared with me) the salvation of our soul {mind/intellect, will & emotions) ourselves, without criticizing others for the methods they use to do this. As we transform our minds, thus transforming our lives, we help end our sufferings, and gain inner peace, and happiness. And that is really all that most of humanity wants the Most, is peace of mind, and Happiness. Thx. For reading this. Stay Optimistic. Life is Wonderful, and so are people too. *Also that we learn to love all people, unconditionally, not having the attitude of,
"I Love You if_________" But we love all people equally, whether they are poor, rich, ugly, beautiful/handsome. That we show love for people through forgiving others, showing Patience, kindness, gentleness, and humility.
That we are compassionate {not wishing any person to suffer) toward all people, only wishing them peace of mind, and Happiness.
I can't add any more words, or this answer will not fit. Yahoo will leave it a blank answer.
Stay Optimistic. And have a Great Weekend.

80% of humanity, the religious folks, don't need to ask the meaning of life, the church tells them....the supernatural explanation. But the rest of us can't swallow religious dogma, because there's no evidence. Nobody can prove that there life after death, that people are tortured or rewarded after life or that there's invisible spirits running around.

I've come to two conclusions recently:

1. Life has no meaning
2. Life has a million meanings.

First, there's a certainty that death and annihilation awaits not only you, but the Earth in general. It's an astonomical certainty that our sun will supernova and leave the earth a burnt crisp, not to mention all the other extinction level events around the corner.

Second, the million things that give us meaning are the pleasurable experiences we can conjure up during the short period we are here on the earth, in the form of the relationships we have with our kids and other people, and the 'housekeeping' types of purposes. What i mean by that are the curing disease, ending hunger, improving literacy, reducing crime, preventing war, helping other kinds of things.

So the bottom line is, we only have a temporary meaning to life, to reduce pain and increase pleasure, other than that everything is lost to oblivion.

To be or not to be? "To be" is temporary and "not to be" is inevitable.....

This question is the single biggest question asked by every human on the planet. It was also asked by 6 other people in the last 5 mins. (just search it)

You will get a mixture of philosophical, humorous, hatred, and demented answers (including at least 10 responses from people who have seen or read A Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy). Insert canned laugh to that answer of 42...

If you are really serious about looking for the answer, then you will probably find it anywhere but here. Life is questions and experiences. The day you know it's meaning is the day you have nothing to live for...

If you are just looking for the punchline...42 will do.

Good Luck on your journey...

Paramatma has chosen you, and every other person for a
particular purpose. The aim of life is to understand
the greatness of the creator. And to search for the
purpose for which a soul is given human life. This
purpose differs from person to person because it is
dependent on the past Karma of the soul. But one thing
is sure. Human beings are the highest of all creation.
The rest of the creation is intended for the use of
human beings. How you use is dependent on your mantal
attitude. When you search and find the purpose of your
life, then meaning of your life will be known to you.

I ask this same question once in a meditation. The answer came clear as a bell.

It said I have placed you here to learn the true meaning of Love. What ever it was that was answering then told me something that really set me back. It said that I felt the way I did about certain people because I did not understand the true meaning of love. I protested and said that I did my best to love all of the people who were deserving of love.

It replied "yes that is your misunderstanding. You see love as something that you dole out in tiny little portions here and there to people who you have judged to be worthy of it. This is not love at all, it is only judgment". This stopped me dead in my tracks. I suddenly realized that what it was saying to me was true. This realization brought me to tears. It went
on and told me, "You treat love as though there is some shortage of it. It is not something that you can run out of. The more love that you give, the more love that there is in the world. Its that simple. The only way that there can be a shortage of it is if you hoard it and keep it to yourself."

It went on to explain, that "this is what Jesus was trying to tell you when he asked you to turn the other cheek, to judge not and to love your neighbor. He made no exceptions in these things that he requested of you. Why are you making exceptions, and judging some as worthy of love and others as not? Jesus fully intended for you to apply this love that you are to all, in a universal manner without any judgment of any sort". By this time the tears Were flowing freely. I was crying because for the first time in my life I Understood what the message Jesus left for us in the bible actually meant.

This has become my truth. I can't say what yours is for sure, but I have a feeling that it is probably similar.

Love and blessings

Life can be interpreted in 2 diametrically opposite ways:
1. It's just a cycle of a growing organism from its inception till culmination. Nothing special.
2. It's a part of the journey of the Absolute from its infinitely concentrated singularity into an all-pervasive manifestation to know & realize itself & back to its primal self.

one thing is for sure, i have been seeing life the meaning of it without the latter lol.
Self-sacrifice, letting go of the person you love as it wasn't meant to be. And stand up for that true love by not loving again even if it means fasting all of your life from sexual activities.
This is my point of view. I am a one-man-woman, conservative and not adaptable to spontaneity specially when it comes to giving yourself to someone. I give my all my love to God,my family and myself lol.

I really don't know what the meaning of life is. However: I believe I know what it isn't.
Life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside, totally worn out and proclaiming:
WOW! WHAT A RIDE! ;)

Sex is by no means a peripheral issue. In fact, Pope John Paul II says the call the “nuptial love” revealed through our sexuality is “the fundamental element of human existence in the world.” It doesn’t get more important than that. He even insists that we can’t understand Christianity if we don’t understand the TRUTH and MEANING of our sexuality.

From the beginning to the end, the Bible itself is a story about marriage. It begins in the Book of Genesis with the marriage of Adam and Eve, and it ends in the Book of Revelation with the “wedding of the Lamb” - the marriage of Christ embodies this love. He comes as the heavenly Bridegroom to unite himself forever to his Bride - to us (his Bride).

Yes, God’s plan from all eternity is to “marry” us- draw us into closest communion with himself. God wanted to reveal this eternal plan to us in a way we couldn’t miss, so he stamped it right in our very being as male and female. This means that everything God wants to tell us on earth about who he is, who we are, the meaning of life, the reason he created us, how we are to live, and even our ultimate destiny is contained somehow in the truth and meaning of sexuality and marriage. This is important stuff.

Life is what you make it. If you are college educated and have a good job then it is fine. If you are not college educated then the government makes you pay for that. No health insurance, struggling to make ends meet and other things. Better to go college so you can have a good life, and invest wisely and save your money.
