My daughter got her first tooth at 3 months, 28 days.
Her second followed ten days later.

She is now 7 months, 8 days old with 6 teeth, and two more about to break through.

I swore at six weeks she was teething (drooling, chewing on everything, sometimes refusing to nurse, etc.) I was told by the pediatrician that babies don't teeth until six months, and since my husband and I both teethed around seven months, she DEFINITELY wouldn't be early. ROFL.

Katie obviously didn't get the memo that told her when she was supposed to teeth. :-)

Some babies, btw, are BORN with teeth. They're called pre-natal teeth and are often pulled.

Babies can take months to teeth (apparently, I showed signs at two months, but didn't break through until seven months). If you suspect your baby may be teething, and an ear infection or other illness has been ruled out, give your baby whatever you can to chew on (a finger, frozen washclothes, teethers, etc.). I swear Katie's teeth came through so early and easily (hardly any crying) because she had my finger in her mouth for about a month straight!

BTW, once the teeth come in and it gets painful to have her chewing on your finger all the time, I found a neat trick (by accident). Get an infant toothbrush; they fit over your finger, and are rubbery and thick enough to protect your finger. I have two now; one to brush her teeth with and one for her to chew on my finger with.

Lina,
Children can be born with teeth. I have never seen it. I have seen babies with a tooth at 4 weeks . . . This is rare. I have had 4 children of my own. The usual age is 4-6 months for a first tooth. If infant tylenol and other teething remedies change your fussy infant into a charming baby, I would say your child is teething. Check with your doctor on your next well baby visit.

The general rule is "children will do whatever causes their parent is not expecting." Learn to laugh and enjoy your baby! Find someone down the path of parenting who enjoys their pleasant children. They must be doing something right.

Good luck! We're in this together.

Babies develop at their own pace, so it's impossible to tell exactly when your child will begin teething.

Usually teething starts around the 6th month, your child's new teeth will begin ushing there way up through this sensitive Periodontal Membrane causing varying teething symptoms in your child as the new teeth begin to emerge. One teething symptom that you may recognize is a slight swelling in the gums.

It may be uncomfortable to your child at first but after a few gentle rubs babies tend to relax. Another idea to consider would be to massage your baby's gums using a cool cloth from the fridge this can help to soothe your baby's teething symptoms.

A baby's first tooth is one milestone that should lead to another - their first dental checkup. While most parents make baby's first visit to the pediatrician priority, many do not realize how early a visit to the dentist should take place.

Some babies are born with teeth. My two girls got teeth around 4-5 months. But my friends' son just got teeth and he's only three months, so it can happen.

Babies are BORN teething, it just depends how sensitive they are to it. 3 months isn't that young, 4-6 months is the average for teething pains to start.

But remember that it can be months after teething starts before the first tooth (or teeth) come through.

My son got his 2 bottom teeth at 3 months. That is extremely early & I've not actually heard of anyone doing it earlier.

some babies are born with teeth. Until all of the teeth grow in, the baby is teething.
