If your breast feeding your period may not come for awhile. It's your body's way of knowing you have a little one to feed so you don't get pregnant with another. When you stop breast feeding you will get your period back very shortly after that.

It depends. If you're giving your baby formula, it could start pretty soon. If you're breastfeeding, it may not start for a long time. Some breastfeeding moms don't get their periods until they're completely done nursing their babies. Some start when the baby begins to nurse less (like when they start solids). My son will be 6 months old this week (born August 13th), we just started solids 2 weeks ago... I started my period for the first time just one week after starting him on solid foods... So - don't panic. It's normal to not have a period for a while afterwards. If you feel really concerned, talk to your OB, but again - I'm sure you're completely fine.

After you stop bleeding after you have the baby it usually comes back every month just like before you had the baby. If you had the baby Dec. 17th and bleed for 4 weeks you should probably get it in the middle or end of this month. Hope this helps.

I had my daughter on Dec. 22 and bled/spotted for 3-4 weeks (c-section). I just started my period on the 5th (Monday). So it took 6 1/2 weeks from her birth. Now it's so heavy I am going through a tampon and pad every hour. Your body really makes up for 9 months of no period! Hope this helps.

Yes, it is normal....I didn't get my period for 4 months.

HOWEVER, you might need to get checked for hypothyroidism. My period started, but then went away again. My hair also fell out in handfuls because I had postpartum hypothyroidism. After they start giving you meds for it, your period comes back within a couple months.

I got mine exactly 4 weeks after I gave birth. If you didn't go for your 6 wk check up then I would suggest seeing your doctor asap.
