Therefore, why should you have to be in bare feet to do gymnastics?

If you have done much gymnastics at all, I would have thought that it would be obvious that to do it well, you really need bare feet. They give you better grip on balancing beams etc and make tumbling easier. You are also on mats, so you aren't in danger of hurting your feet.

On the other hand, if you are talking about say badminton or circuit training, trainers are definitely a good idea.

As to infections, I hold that it's your responsibility to wear a verucca sock or something to protect others if you have an infection. Just like when you go swimming.

Barefoot. It's healthy for the foot, for your entire posture, and good for the floors. We weren't ever allowed shoes for PE, barefoot PE is the norm in the Netherlands, and guess what, I can't recall anyone having veruca's, athlete's foot, or a foot injury in all my years at school.

It's really not dangerous, only in the US do people believe it's unhealthy, mostly because that silly myth that there's a health department law against barefooting in public, which isn't even true (see source!). Here I go barefoot everywhere -not just in the gym- and while few people do it due to fashion concerns & people believe it'd be cold, I get comments of how healthy it is all the time. Which is backed up by my own experiences; no cuts, no warts, no foot fungus (which needs closed shoes to get a hold), and one cold in the past ten years.

Yes! Ever tried to get 30 six year old out of their jumpers, shirts, ties, trousers or skirts and tights or socks and then into another load of kit and down the corridor, into the hall, have a run around and then get them out because the next class are waiting, get them back to the room and then back dressed when you've got half an hour? Not easy!

Everytime you put on the telly they tell you kids are obese because they don't get any exercise! Imagine if you had to get them into another set of shoes and socks? You'd never do any PE! They don't care about doing it in bare feet! and little kids barely sweat!

I do not agree with bare feet anywhere in a public setting. The chances of contracting athlete's foot, warts(verruca), ring worm, and other contagious diseases of the feet are greatest when you expose your bare skin to the same surfaces shared with infected feet.

Wear soft slippers or at the very least socks to protect against these diseases. AND, change your socks before putting shoes back on to prevent the transfer of disease to the insides of your shoes.

I don't see why not.I think we try to protect ourselves too much from grems these days and it can get a bit obsessive.Years ago we had to do PE in bare feet hardly any of us got a verruca or anything else.

NO i think its discusting that some kids could have infection or sensitive about their feet and they have to spread a varruca and give it to someone else
maybe for small kids yeah but not for teenagers
