I loved the name but everytime I tell someone the name all I get is "damien is the name of Satan's son!". I picked his name before the remake of "The Omen" was even in theaters. So that movie had no affect on the choice I made for names. What do you think?

I don't believe in Satan, and I never watched any version of "The Omen," so my dislike of the name Damien has nothing to do with that. The reason I dislike it, is simply because it looks/sounds like the word "demon". The name Damon is an even worse example of this!! I don't believe in demons, but I still think "demon" is not a word with a nice connotation to it, obviously. *wry smile*
As for Alexander, I LOVE that name! It is very classic, very classy, and definitely a masculine name, not one of these trendy "unisex" names like Taylor where you don't know if it belongs to a boy or girl.
As a compromise, how about naming your son "Alexander Damien"? :)

My son is called Damien too. I have the same reaction too with people.I looked up the meaning,there was someone called Damien who was a 13th century christian martyr however this would never be highlighted like the film the omen. There is nothing in the bible to associate this name with the devil. I think its a great name.

It's a little late to change his name now; and Damien is the name of satans son IN A MOVIE!! So is Nicky (little nicky) which is my nephews name! I wouldn't worry about it so much~ who cares what other people think?

I love the name damien.I actually want to name my own son that one day. I hate that when all people think about is what movie the name is from. I never thought of Alexander as the middle name, I like it.

Its a very nice name!! Dont let anyone tell you otherwise, Its your son.. noone elses! I liked the name also... But (nothing against church Goers!!!) i knew my in laws would not think it was 'amusing' seen as ppl see it as close to the devil and stuff! (Becuase thats EXACTLY how my Mother in Law woulda seen it!) So we decided against it. Its just a name is how i see it!!! Everything has to have something attached to it nowwa days.. Bad or Good. But i really do think its a nice name!

I myself do not like the name....but obviously you did so don't worry what others happen to think of it.
I have a cousin named Damien and he is one of the most brilliant people I know...even as a kid.

I really like that name. I've liked it for a long time. There's always going to be associations with a name. Some people love it, others hate it. They need to get over it. It's cute.

I thought of that name as well, and that is all i heard so i changed my mind quick, just because i didn't want people bothering me asking if i knew that or not. I think the name is adorable actually...i see nothing wrong with it. If you can ignore and get past the stupid remarks people are bound to make, go for it!!! I like it
