I think Arabic literature is literary works written initially in Arabic like some famous novels, short stories, especially "The Cairo Trilogy" by Naguib Mahfouz, the Egyptian author who received his 1988 Nobel Prize for literature, the only one in the Arab world. The Trilogy is highly recommended for you to read it for at least two key reasons: first, the Nobel literature committee cited it as an exemplary masterpiece ever written to reveal the ways of life in the Muslim world and, second, it's beautifully translated into English by a team of four scholars. I read and enjoyed it till its last page.
