I feel my supervisor is harassing me, he constantly is finding fault in everything I do, he went to personel because the tone of my voice was inappropriate when I was talking to another operator I work with. I had ear plugs in, just came in from the outside(it's -2 degrees here)freezing, and repeatedly answered a question 3 times to this operator. My supervisor and another personel rep were doing a safety audit on me when all of this happened. I am female, the others male and good friends. The same operator left me to run the process by myself all afternoon while he and the supervisor loaded their trucks with boards and other junk from the process. I am tired of this supr. treating me differently, in total there are 4 women and 12 men on our shift and 2 of the 4 women are constantly being harassed. I need advise, do I get a lawyer and pursue this or do I take it and hope I get thru to retire in 2 1/2 years? I just feel something needs to done to stop harassment in the work force.

I had the same problem and taped conversations. It is amazing how white a personal director can go when hearing irrefutable evidence of law breaking in their company.

I would suggest that you do covertly and keep a diary of incidences. Then if you want to persue it you have proof. Make sure that your own behaviour is absolutely correct though.

Sometimes the company knows what is going on and just needs the proof - sometimes they are ignoring it.

Your must remember that this will not make you popular so only follow through if you really need to. Otherwise keep your head down and let the boys play while you show you are a hard worker!

This varies state to state. In Maryland it is illegal unless you tell the person you are recording them. Your best bet is to write down each incident after it happens where you feel ou are being singled out and write down the name of anyone you saw who may have witnessed the event. Notify whoever you feel will respond and ask them to drop by your desk at random some time, unnannounced. If your supervisor is "always" mean and nasty, that should prove your point.

A lawyer would hesitate to get involved without definite, hard proof there is either harrasment or violation of EOE laws. Witnesses to back you up are your best bet.

Sending out resumes this weekend wouldn't hurt, either. I would NOT stay there. It's for your own mental well being.

Good luck!

If you really feel you are being harrassed, by all means tape your conversations and document any and everything. (A pain in the butt I know). Keep in mind though that everyone being taped has to know the conversation is being recorded. That is a must. If they are not aware of this, then it is insubmissable in court and you just wasted your time. Even when you are recording a conversation over the telephone, you have to let the other person know they are being recorded.

you may tape the combating in case you may hear it out of your position. you at the instantaneous are not spying because there chaos and drama is invading your human being area. it ought to not be data in a courtroom of regulation, regardless of the indisputable fact that it would not look it really is your concentration. You look to decide on to educate they're demanding the peace and taping them obviously ought to educate that on your landlord and the police. So tape on. it should be this very element to provide them a awaken call because if their combating ventures into your area then they decide on help. So enable your reason be problem for his or her well being, and not in any respect being a hectic body and each thing will artwork out.

I am not an expert...but I do Know in my state it is legal as long as one party either the person taping or the person being taped is aware. It is the question if it is permissable in court and that is up to the judge.

Be real sure that you are just not playing the victim. If yougo forward with any type of action you are opening yourself to possible loosing your job. When required it isn't that hard to find a reason to let someone go, and it is very hard to defend.
You might win, or you might loose. Can you afford it if you loose. That is the real question.
