Walt Disney World is far better than Disneyland...
Disneyland contains two theme parks, three hotels, and a Downtown Disney District. Walt Disney World contains four theme parks, two water parks, Downtown Disney, 25 differnet resort/hotel options, over 150 dining options, and plenty of shops and recreational activities. One could spend an entire month at Walt Disney World and still not see and do everything. Walt Disney World is incredible! In fact, it's the number one vacation destination in the world.
Hope I could help!

Disney World is much better than disneyland. Its actually multiple parks, far away from each other - you'll probably only go to one day, and they're big and expensive, so you'll be dead tired the next day. If you''re there for two weeks, I'd suggest spending some days at the Disney World resorts and other days at normal Florida - beaches, and all that.Disney Land is in California and is much smaller than Magic Kingdom.DISNEY WORLD is MUCH BIGGER!Its SOO HUGE!
Magic Kingdom is a must-stop, because it has all the famous and traditional rides you will probably enjoy the roller coasters there; Splash Mountain, Space Mountain, and Thunder Mountain; plus, the best fireworks show around and Pirates of the Carribean! For the adults? Epcot has alcohol, and fantastic restaurants - but it's very educational, and lots of kids find it kinda boring. Animal Kingdom...probably only if he's the kind of boy who loves animals, but they do have some fantastic ones there!
Downtown Disney is so cool its a
Disney-operated shopping district thign, full of fantastic over the top stores - including a Virgin superstore, movie theatres, and an indoor arcade. At night, it also boasts some clubs - which he might be too your for, but you might enjoy popping your heads into. Downtown Disney is free to enter, but since it basically consists of a ton of stores, you might end up spending a bundle there!
Disney is massive fun.
They have these wonderful inventions called Fastpasses. Use them as much as possible, for the very long lines( the rollercoasters).
DisneyWorld is fantastic!

Disney World has a park called Magic Kingdom, which essentially IS Disney Land. If you like staying in a cheaper hotel and walking to Disney, you won't find that at Disney World, but you can get some great deals on Condos in the area.
Disney World has Disney MGM, Epcot (last choice unless you're a senior citizen), and the Magic Kingdom.
Disneyland has Disneyland and California Kingdom. You'll find everything but two of the roller coasters at Disney World instead of Disneyland.

Disney Land, although the first of the two, is actually a lot smaller and a lot less of an attraction. Disney World attracts many millions more visitors per year than Disney Land simply due to its size. Disney World has several different, self sustaining, parks (Magic Kingdom, Epcot, Animal Kingdom, MGM Studios, etc.)
Mostly, the major innovative and big-budget rides, such as Mission SPACE, Test Track, and Expedition Everest, exist at Disney World. It is that reason that I would say Disney World rules supreme over Disney Land.

They both have their good qualities! And the answer to this question will vary, from person to person.
For me, personally? Disneyland will ALWAYS have my heart. =P I grew up there, and worked there, and my daughter is growing up there, etc. Plus, it's the original...Walt's original dream.
Although I haven't been to DisneyWorld YET, I really want to go to see the differences (as well as similarities) between the two...but I'd like to wait till my daughter is a little older (like 8 or so) so she can appreciate and remember it. But I'd also love to visit the other Disney parks around the world as well.
So that's my opinion.

I am biased to disney world mainly because i worked there for five years. but
1. WDW has more parks. magic kingdom, the studios, epcot and animal kingdom (its natazu).
2. it has lots or resorts to go swimming as well as several water parks. oh put-put golf. also movie theatres, dance clubs, concert halls cirque du soliel etc.. at downtown disney.
3. YOU CAN DRINK at epcot. its a fun game to go drinking around the world. also in the fall is food and wine festival. (my favorite time of year)
plus orlando IMO is a more tourist friendly city then L.A. there is a on of other stuff to do other than disney world there.

First the basics. Disneyland is the original park, it is in California. Walt himself oversaw it's construction. Disneyworld is in Orlando, Florida. It is so big, it has it's own zip code.
Disneyworld in Florida is better, by far. Disneyland has only 2 parks, both on the small side as theme parks go, the Magic Kingdom and California adventure. There are 4 hotels to choose from I think. The whole area is in a metropolitan area surrounded by other businesses.
Disneyworld is a city onto itself. There are many more resorts to choose from, ranging from the value resorts to deluxe and everything in between. There are 4 parks to choose from, three water parks, a VERY cool downtown area, DisneyQuest, and much, much more. For the money, I will always choose to go to WDW in Florida.
