So for ROK, they are saying that last year, their dividends for the entire year were $1.16 per share. SO, if I owned only one stock last year, I would receive $0.29 a quarter? And if I look at the dividends from 2003, 2004, 2005, and 2006, I'll see if there is a general upward trend or a general downward trend and then I can try to project whether their dividends will go up or down?

Where can I look to see a company's dividend and profit history? On their website? Anywhere else? Thanks again!

You are not quite correct. Companies do not necessarily pay the same dividend every quarter and you can only find the correct annual dividend by adding the 4 quarterly dividends for that year. You can then look at the annual dividends over the last few years to see the trend.,

As for projecting into the future, that is a risky procedure. Companies try to give increasing dividends every year, but ultimately, these depend on the profits available. For me, the best indicator is the net profit per share after tax.

That is close to correct (but your numbers are off - they didnt get $1.16 last and but did give $0.29 last Qrt so its assumed they will give $1.16 over the next year)

Here is the Link. you can find that in Yahoo!
