Basically it means that you should not hurry to get revenge, Take your time and think it through first. You might calm down and forget all about it, or the OTHER person might forget about it and not see it coming! If you take them by surprise, it's all the sweeter.

That's what "best served cold" means.

Two meanings come to mind.

A. Wait a while before enacting your revenge. It catches the other person off guard.

B. When taking your revenge you must have a cold heart so that you do not feel remorse for the person.

.. if your intial reaction to something is . revenge
then . its best served cold...
put it on hold.. simmer off before you go for revenge ,. settle down your thoughts feelings, siffer thru them and make sure its what your heart really desires..
tempers that flare when in the moment or while your hot tempered often leave you in dismay.
sometimes after you have had a while to think about a situation you may decide to react differntly than at first..
so . instead of revenge on a flight. simmer down ,.. cool off chill outl go from there

The theory is that if one wanted to exact revenge for something, it would be better to wait and cold-bloodedly plan the act of vengeance.

For example, in Poe's "The Cask Of Amontillado," the person seeking revenge waited until his victim suspected no danger.

I think it means that you should plan and execute your revenge in a cold, calm way. If you do it in the "heat" of passion your emotional state will rob you of your enjoyment of it or of prolonging it.

Note: I'm not in favor of revenge, at least not most times.

miz,

To those who believes that...

When seeking vengeance, ANYthing to hurt whomever that has wronged you is acceptable.

You MUST be cold to...

1. Go after family members,
2. Children,
3. Extended families, and
4. Acquaintances.

to pay for the sins of the transgressor...

Classic case of misguided aggression...

It means wait until the heat is off the situation and then gert your revenge (it's harder to see it coming when it's been a while and it's not expected)
