The warantee covers all repairs for consules manufactured before Jan. 1st 06 and i bought mine in Nov. 05. I am having a problem with mine and I want to send it in to get fixed but they said it would cost me $140, EVEN THOUGH i bought mine before '06. Do I have a case on my hand where I could file a lawsuit against Microsoft?

this is not my 360, it's a friends, mine took a **** last year and i sent it in and they repaired it for free...also there is no need for a reciept because there is a code on the back of the 360 and you register it online so...they have all of that information.....I am not the one sueing and i doubt it will even happen, so don't get mad at me, lol

What would you sue them for? The $140? Thats all you are going to get in small claims court. They wan't even defend themselves against that and you will recieve a summary judgment, but then you have to collect. Good luck.

How does their warranty cover all consoles built before 1/1/06? Are you talking about a recall? The warranty should have come with your console and should have a specified date that it is good until. They usually are only good for a year or two. Even then, you still have to register it when you bought it to be valid.

You neglect to mention whether you can prove when you purchased your xbox, ie: a receipt. Since you seem to be so sure of yourself here, I'm going to assume you have a receipt (since without it you have absolutely NOTHING).

Call them directly and inquire EXACTLY what they are charging you for. Then ask for a supervisor to explain why your particular unit isn't covered by the warantee. Then raise holy hell until you get it repaired, UNLESS they give you a valid reason why it isn't covered.

You don't sue Microsoft over $140. That is ridiculous.

What do they want to charge you the 140$ for? Shipping? Insurance on the shipping? If it is shipping related do you get that back?

Find out what the charge is for and always read your warranty beforehand.

Are you sure that the 360 didn't just have a 1 year warranty? Is it a parts AND labor warranty?

warantees run for a specific length of time - probably 6 months or a year.

So yours has probably run out
