i bought a new shower head for my shower. I tried to chang e the round piece that attaches to the pipe that comes out of the wall but i cant get it to come off. I then put it the shower head on but it leaks and sprays water out cause the round head isnt the right fit fo the new shower head. how do i get it off to replace with the pie`ce that came with the new shower head? or can i use some kind of tape to seal it so it stays?

most if not all shower heads are universal to fit on the pipe that comes out of the wall. possible you can use an adapter. make sure there is a rubber washer in the shower head itself and use some thread tape. hope this helps.

Most shower heads are 1/2 inch and you do need to use a tape from the pipe coming out of the wall to the shower head. Just get everything off the pipe, then the new one should fit right one the pipe. Don't screw up the threads on the new shower head.

If it's not the right fit, you'll have eto buy an adapter piece to screw onto the pipe, then screw the shower head onto the adapter. Be sure and use teflon tape or pipe dope before screwing on, that will seal it. I'm not sure how you could even put the showerhead onto the pipe if it was the wrong size?? It should thread on easily if it's the right size. You need to get a small pipe wrench and tighten really well.

the old round head should unscrew from the pipe or nipple as it is commonly called. if it doesn't have flat sides for a crescent wrench you may have to use a pipe wrench. this usually leaves marks but if you are going to discard it then it doesn't matter. try not to disturb the seal of the nipple inside the wall. try placing some heavy tape on the nipple so you may use a second wrench without damaging the nipple. once the old round head is removed, clean the threads of the nipple and apply some plastic tape or pipe compound and install the new head. remember to place the new shower head ring on the nipple first-slide it up and out of your way until the new ball head is on. tada!

You will need a pipe wrench to hold the pipe coming thru the wall and a crescent or properly sized wrench to unscrew the part Undoubtedly the threads of the 2 pieces where it leaks are different so teflon will not stop your problem.Caution..... use an old rag to protect the pipe from the teeth on the pipe wrench

Try unscrewing the entire arm out of the wall, not just the ball socket fitting. You should have gotten a new arm with the new shower head. And yes, use teflon tape on the threads. Wrap it clockwise as you're looking at the end towards you.

Wrap a rag around the shower lead pipe that comes from the wall, then use a gripping tool to remove it from the wall, then install a new head and pipe if the new shower head will not fit.

Do not force it tighter. Use teflon tape to wrap the screw threads first or get a tube of thread sealer and apply it to the threads. When I am connection iron pipe I use both. The leaking comes from the tolerances of the threads not being very good so the sealer or teflon tape fills in the gaps. You can get either in the plumbing aisle at any hardware store.

If you force it tighter you can easily break the pipe of that comes out of the wall in a place that will require breaking into the wall to fix it.

I start facing the shower head, I end up turning around a once or twice through the shower...rinsing shampoo out of hair, rinsing soap off, etc.

need some gorilla power, along with opposing wrenches to lock on, and power the old fitting off. consider using some penetrating oil on the upper edge of the old fitting and letting it soak for a few hours.
