Depends on the venom, how much is injected (often none is), and the health of the snake. It could either cause little reaction, or death if vital tissue is involved.

For those people who post answers without knowing what they're talking about: a snake under stress may self inflict, most notably when it's pinned with a hook or stick and goes into a frenzy. Bright lights and heat may also trigger it: Brought into a TV studio, a sidewinder rattlesnake began biting itself and died shortly afterward.

Then there's the cold factor: Lowering reptiles' body temperature to freezing has been used as a humane way to euthanize them. "On several instances I found rattlesnakes with their fangs embedded mid-body after euthanization," Nickerson says.

No impression. A snake, or the different venomous creature, is proof against its own venom. So whether it bites itself, or nibbles amorously at yet another snake, it heavily isn't stricken via the venom.

no. the venom is already IN the snake. However, your question itself can't happen. Snakes don't 'bite', they strike. It's impossible for a snake to strike at itself.

Venom is dangerous only if it enters the blood vessels of an animal.

No. It has to ingest the venom in its victims bodies and it has enzymes in its gut and liver to break it down.
