It's got to last for 30 mins and will be with up 6 children, i don't want anything that will take a long time to get to get ready as i don't have much time.

A chess club is a great idea. Any age can play any age. The kids catch on quickly and help each other until you get it going. Then, you rotate players, and make it a tournament. There are tons of chess puzzles for kids who finish early, and are waiting for the next game. If you have an uneven number, two weaker players can collaborate against a stronger player. The materials are inexpensive. amd cam be set up and put away in a minute. I have used chess for entire classes. Twenty or thirty kids all absorbed, thinking, and LOVING it.

We have a board games club - just simple games: ludo, snakes and ladders, snap etc. Good for learning how to take turns!
