Having gone door to door and stood outside to have petitions signed for issues that were very important to our citizens, I can tell you that petitions that cause a question to be placed on a ballot -- e.g. should all our local and state police have the H2g (oops, brain fart -- not sure that's the correct number) training that would allow them to assist in enforcement of federal immigration laws? -- have been very successful. People willingly sign petitions that give them the opportunity to vote on specific issues.

Otherwise, petitions also have been effective in causing issues to be placed on hold or removed from agendas or have even caused public hearings to be held. So, I guess the answer is that if the people push to have the petitions honored and follow it up by impeaching or removing people from office who refuse to honor them, then the petitions are effective. Additionally, signed petitions prove that there is enough public interest in an issue to at least cause some kind of comment, action, or acknowledgment.

We, at Citizens Protecting Your Rights, along with a number of other groups currently have a pink postcard campaign going on. We are asking people to send pink postcards that say "You're fired" and why to their elected and appointed officials. We're trying to get 20 million of them sent. We know many have been sent out, but more importantly, we know that our elected officials who have found out about the campaign are trying hard to ensure that they don't get one. We've had more communication with our officials and local people have told me they have received calls from their elected/appointed officials who were concerned about getting the votes of their constituents. We even had one official send a pink slip to a local activist. The official wrote on the pink slip it could be used by the activist to "fire" the official if the activist ever felt the official was not doing a proper job. Needless to say, that official probably wouldn't get fired because he cared enough to keep the lines of communication open.

You'll hear more positive results if more people get involved in these kinds of endeavors.

they'll purchase them even if PetCo stops promoting or not. What about crickets? those are offered as feeders! Even feeder fish, same element! Does that propose that we prefer to end possessing lizards and carnivorous fish? it really is a cycle of existence! even if PetCo stops promoting, peoples snakes are unlikely to end eating! they'll in basic terms get then someplace else! Has each person ever informed those human beings how cattle is killed for persons food? that is not very humane both! Its the circle of existence.. and it strikes us all.. via dispare and want... hehehe.. dumb hippies! Get jobs and discover extra effective issues to whine about. something that quite concerns like the tens of millions of cats and dogs an afternoon that are slaughtered because they haven't any homes!!!!

Petitions that go through Congress are certainly looked at. The president doesn't have any control over the voice of the people with our Civil rights to free speech. Petitions are just another form of free speech.

No. National petitions don't do JACK unless you have the president sign it. Its like signing your name for fun. I've seen petitions stop cities from doing things but never the nation.

if our school systems weren't run by and filled with Marxist nonsense you would have learned in story class that the colonists petitioned the king for redress of grievances and that petition brought the situation to a head at Lexington and Concorde
