I have a cyst under my top lid and don't know if its a solid mass or has pus/infection in it. Its causing a lot of irritation and redness; and my Dr. has given me antibiotic drops and told me to use a warm compress on the eye each evening so the cyst might drain. Its not really working so any ideas out there? I'm thinking an opthamologist should be my next step? I have no blurred vision.

eye cysts aka stys are basically infections with bacteria, most commonly bacteria.... antibiotics and warm compresses to drain it are the best way to go... if it doesn't decrease in size in a week then go to a ophtamologist...it is best to avoid touching it and just let it heal on its own to preven the spread of bacteria

Is it red or painful? if so, it is infected and is known as a hordeolum. If it is an internal hordeolum, you will probably need oral antibiotics, not drops. If it is more solid, it is known as a chalazion.
