Mine would be when Vince Carter literally jumped over the Chinese center in the Olympics. Was that Yao, does anyone know?

the vince carter over the french guy in the olympics might be the most publicised dunk, and possibly the best dunk of all time. but THE GREATEST DUNK was when jerome lane of the pitt panthers got a pass on a 2 on 1 break and did a total facial on the providence friar player AND broke the backboard. every time i see that dunk i just get hype.

Vince Carter dunking over French center Fredric Weis hands down. Ricky Davis dunking over Steve Nash was nice too!

Not too many people know about this dunk because it was done in a preseason game at UNLV. It was a preseason game between the Lakers and Wizards. Kobe was skinny and sportin his fro when he comes down the court, crosses over on the top of the key breaking down his man... Takes two steps into the lane and just elevates over Big Ben Wallace and jams it over him. Big Ben falls to the ground. Found it on youtube, enjoy...

It was around 1978 or 79, I was at the Spectrum in Philly. Julius Irving got the ball at the top of the key, launched, and slammed it in against the Celtics. I was about 20 some rows behind the other basket.

You're just children, you have no idea about the history of the game. There were nasty dunks before Tivo and my tube. Barkley on manute bol, spudd webb against the lakers in traffic, jarvis basnight (UNLV rebel) over an opposing player trying to take a charge, and anything by darryl dawkins. But my personel preference is either dominic Wilkins cup dunk of of his own missed jumper in the playoffs against the Celtics of Bernard Kings off of a missed jumper against the Pistons in the play offs.

It wasn't even a Chinese. It was over 7ft2, French Frederic Weis.

But I agree, definitly the best dunk ever.

Shawn Kemp over Alton Lister, playoffs G.S. @ Seattle, finger point to Lister on the floor, building going crazy.

from TNT:

Shawn Kemp ‘Cup Dunk’ over Alton Lister – dubbed The Lister Blister (4/30/92)

"I used to tease the guys on the court. I used to say, ‘hey, if you start that with me, I’m going to put you on a poster tonight.’ That was the case that game, so unfortunately, Alton got put on a poster that night." – Former Seattle Supersonics forward Shawn Kemp

lol, easy that would be "The Dunk" by, John Starks. he not only dunked on one bull, but three at the same time:) Scottie Peppin, Horse Grant, and M.J. nothing can compare. I also believe it was in playoff time. Also they made T'shirts and posters of "The Dunk"

John Starks for 08
