Airplanes are one of the biggest causes of greenhouse gasses, if Branson wants to do something about the environment shouldn't he be in a different business? Of course if he were to close down Virgin Air someone else would take its place, that wouldn't reduce emissions, but that doesn't mean that he can jump on the environmental bandwagon: it's like you can't eat meat and say you're a vegetarian on the basis that if you didn't eat this meat then someone else would eat it!!

I think Richard Branson is a star. He's realised that unless we all want to move back into the caves, or just have a big human cull, then we need to tackle the problem of greenhouse gasses.

There are already a lot of people trying to reduce carbon emissions, but he's trying to encourage people to find a way to clean up the mess we've already created.

"... if he were to close down Virgin Air someone else would take its place..."

I think that is 100% true. This is not the first time I have heard of Branson putting his money where his mouth is or pursuing this subject. I think I understand your perspective, but think about it like this: why not let him spend his money this way? It'll can only help.

Here's the answer.

everyone stop wanting so much stuff & we will only have to work 2-3 days a week and emissions will be cut in half that way.
