I have installed Limewire & when I ask it to search, (eg I want to find a film), off it goes and lists various items. In the search results box it may say that it has found 300 hits but (a) I can only see a fraction of them in my results box, (b) there are many unrelated items it has found and (c) it doesn't come up with the film I am looking for.

Am I missing something here?

If anyone out there can help, will they please instruct me exactly how I get these issues sorted in words of 1 syllable or less

I had that problem with limewire too, I was told the files that popped up that were not related were some kind of spyware, and should be avoided. I'd advise you to give up on limewire for films and use torrents.

Ok, when it says it found 300 and you only see a fraction, it's because if multiple users have the same exact file in their shared folder, it groups them together to prevent you from downloading it again. Also, this helps your download go faster because it actually downloads from a few of those users at once, taking some parts of the file from one and some parts from another. This is a good thing. Be thankful. Choose files with the highest number next to them.

About the unrelated items, this is ongoing. Sometimes it's because one word in all the info about the file matches one word in your search. Other times it says exactly what you want, but when you download =( you find out it's not really it.

This is a problem that NEVER stops. It's because when people put things from their own computer/storage discs into the shared folder (which is the only way ANYTHING gets on limewire), they can RENAME it whatever they want. Many times they don't know what it really is and they call it something else that exists but isn't it, or something that you've never even heard of. Long story short... if you have any idea how many stupid people there are on the internet, then this gets you started on discovering why your every search brings up crap you don't want.

And if you know the exact name of the film you are looking for, and it's not bringing it up, then try spelling it wrong. It may or may not work, but if you refer back to the last paragraph I wrote, you'll understand why. Also try looking up other key words, things that are in the film but not in the name of it... again, refer back to how stupid people call the files whatever they want.

Sorry, I couldn't do it in words of one syllable or less. You'll just have to settle. Hope this helps ya!

Limewire is a Peer to Peer transfer program. It allows anyone using that program to share folders and files that others around the world can download. When you save a file to a computer (like a movie or music) you have the option of creating a description of the file. Limewire reads these descriptions and if any of the words you use in your search appear in the file name or the description it will show up.

A lot of people on these Peer to Peer (P2P) programs have files with spyware, adware and viruses in them. Some are porn files with every word in the english language as a description. This creates files to be brought up on your screen that wouldn't be the file. The only way to stop this would be to select the file and "trash" it. There should be a trash can icon to the right of your screen. Then go through the options and find where it says "do not display files marked as trash" This will limit the number of files that are brought up.

Also, since this is a P2P program the movie you are looking for might not be available due to a number of factors (ie. movie was just released to DVD, copyright laws, movie still in theaters, or the person with the movie isn't running limewire). In order for the file to download, someone must A) Have the file on their computer AND B) be running limewire for you to download from them.

Hope this helps.

The junk filtering doesn't work too well in limewire anyway, so you are always going to see results of stuff that you are not looking for. The programmers may improve in this area on future releases.

As far as not seeing all of the results, it's the number of users that you are connected to, not the number of files in which those numbers represent.

Your results window can be adjusted using your cursor, just grab the bar with your mouse at the bottom part of the window to move it up or down, thereby making the visible area show more results.

if say 20 people had the same file and exact file name it would only list it once.
http://www.limewire.com/ is the most used free file sharing site. make sure you have anti virus running before swapping any files. the free edition of avg available from http://free.grisoft.com/freeweb.php/doc/2/ does a good job. once you have installed limewire do a search for limewire pro. then install this and delete the original. pro is faster.

yes as stated, limewire is not really useful for downloading films.

a) you tend to find that whatever you look for you get nothing to do with what your asking.
b) if your unable to finish a film download without interuption, the film fails to continue download on the second attempt(not enough sources).
c) too many spyware and viruses.
d)when you look for music you get american equiailent (i.e weido yankovic crap or r&b)

you are better of using a progam like bcdc.

well i don't know if this will help, but the more info you ask, the more detailed return you'll get as to download Video, the name of the movie maybe the year it was released helps, i'm no t sure it's not an exact science..
