Can anyone who lives in downtown, or has had an excellent visit, tell me some fun things to do, in and around that area. I love the market and have been many times, but never stayed for days, so not really sure what else there is to do that is around there. I will be staying for some of the week days too, with my own car. Thanks everyone!

Ride the Ducks of Seattle is a fun, goofy tour on a boat that also travels on the streets. It's the most fun, painless way of learning about the various neighborhoods of Seattle as well as seeing a few notable places.

I live in Capitol Hill. I recommend Joe Bar for coffee or a crepe or to people watch.

The Space Needle is a must, which is right across from the Ducks of Seattle Tour. EMP (aka Experience Music Project) is also in that park called Seattle Center. You may not be interested in the Experience Music Project, but it's good to know where it is, so you can pick out this noted building by architect Frank O. Gehry.

If your on your own, and looking for people to be with, check out Meetup.com and instantly find a group of people who plan to go shopping, watching a film, attend an art event, etc. Strangers welcome of course.

The Sheraton Hotel is only like 5 minutes from Pike Place in downtown Seattle. It's a nice, safe hotel. Nearby is the Space Needle, The Seattle Science Center, EMP (Experience Music Project). There is a huge carnival type area right next to the Seattle Science Center. TONS of great food right in that area. Have a blast!

Here are a few suggestions!

Pioneer Square & The Underground Tour - a quick walk down 1st Avenue from the Market...

Waterfront/Ferry Ride/Seattle Aquarium - Take a ferry ride to either Bainbridge or Bremerton for a great view of the city from the water for a 1/3 of the price of an Argosy cruise. Waterfront has great restaurants, gift shops, etc. Aquarium is being remodeled, but the sea otters are adorable!

Seattle Center & The Space Needle - there is almost always something going on of interest at Seattle Center. I'd highly recommend checking out their calendar of events:

Seattle Parks - Here's a few of my favorites:

Woodland Park Zoo - Voted as one of the best zoos in the country. A must-see if you are an animal lover.

Hope you have a great time!

The market is fun. Also, go down below on the pier and see the shops there.
go up to Westlake Center, it's a mall where the monorail is.
go down to the Seattle center, the EMP (experience music project) and learn about all the musicians of the past, ie Beatles, Hendrix, etc.
Go to the space needle
Take your car over to Bellevue square, off of I-405. It's a great mall, with great restaurants.

been there and loved it. i think if you just go out and explore you will find things to do. i have been there twice and both time for about a week. i did not do the same thing once each time i was there and that was just in downtown seattle. so have fun in your exploring. just watch out for the bums when you drive, they want you to hit them so they can cash in.
