In Maharashtra, prob the best place would be Lonavala (a couple of hrs drive from Mumbai)...considering there are natural falls which only happen during the rainy season...the crowd can be a bit shady...but if ur goin wiz a group of friends...it is not a place u wanna miss!

Wherever you go on a rainy day , I feel it will turn out an ordeal.I would prefer staying at home with some hot snacks and a good movie to watch.

Watching falling rain from Mountains is a marvellous and extraordinary site and I enjoy every moment of it. I would suggest go to a Hill station- Simla, Dalhousie, Dharamshala, McLeod Gunj rent a cottage and enjoy the nature at its best.
Good Luck
