I loved Shawshank, too- It's my favorite drama, along with American Beauty. But I have to break my favorites down by category, because you really can't compare Trading Places, Get Shorty or Austin Powers to films like Saving Private Ryan, the Godfather or the Usual Suspects. And where do you put epics like Lord of the Rings or Star Wars (the original)? How do you compare any US-made films to Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon, Hero and House of Flying Daggers?
But if I had to pick a single movie as my favorite of all time....
