as a last resort you can visit your doctor and get a prescription for one of the many sleep aids; but first ---
1) do not watch TV in the bedroom. Not only will it keep you awake but the flickering will keep you from getting restful sleep.
2) turkey and a mug of hot milk - with vanilla and sweetener - heat the milk for 2 min in the microwave. Both these are high in a natural chemical that helps sleep and you'll sleep better with a little something on you stomach.
3)for sleeping during the day - find an eye mask and wear ear plugs. turn off your phone and a little white noise will block out outside noise - even with ear plugs.
4)when trying to sleep, close your eyes - it's amaizing how often I've watched people lay in bed with their eyes open.
5)If you're having intruding thoughts - instead of white noise tune your radio to a station you like and turn the sound down to a level where you have to work to hear it
Getting a good night sleep may well help your headaches; but if it doesn't you may want to be checked for sleep apnea in a sleep lab as snoring and high CO2 levels can cause headaches.
Good luck - I'm a day sleeper also - it just takes time and an optimistic attitude.

it seems that your biological clock is messed up. I recommend couple of things.
1. Dont sleep for 1 day, and then sleep at the time you want to sleep.
2. If that doesnt work or you couldnt go through with it, go buy a chloroform and inhale it! You will fall asleep right away but make sure you have enough padding...

Drink warm milk before bed. Make sure that there is no TV on to distract you, and maybe read a book. No eating, talking on the phone, no paperwork... bed is only for sleeping and sex. If the problem persists then tell your doctor about it, he may be able to prescribe you something to help you get some rest. But please use that as the last resort; it's been known that prescription sleep meds are habit forming. Good luck.

Stress and a change in schedule is causing you your sleep.
You need to relax before going to bed. Take warm milk and/or meditate. Calm your mind before sleeping.
Perhaps you are worrying about something. Try to resolve the issue.

Try to ask your boss for some mercy , and if you couldn't , try to relax during the work in the free minutes either by meditation or laying on a rug or a sofa. and you can try to take some days off.

try getting a different shift so that you can get some sleep, because if you dont get any sleep, you wont have the energy to do your new job or possibly hold your spoon!

Don't eat full stomach while on duty. You eat full meal and go to bed, you will sleep.
Get a round magnet and put on bed below your neck such that your neck is on South pole of magnet. you will sleep.
