Doesn't let you sleep, that's all.

If you have any delusions about caffeine helping you, I would suggest you look at the following pictures.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:Caffeinated_spiderwebs.jpg

The top web was made by a normal spider. The bottom web was made by a spider with caffeine in its system. How they got the spider to drink a bottle of Jolt, I have no idea.

The fact is that it does not help you concentrate nor does it make you smarter. It just wakes you up, but the way it wakes you up is by stimulating you. Stimulated study like this is very unpredictable. You might stay up all night and study all you need to, but then while taking your test you will be at a point where you have crashed (or are about to). This can cause you to lose all the recently stored information.

As an educator I can only hope that you heed these words and learn the hard truth that learning the material and cramming for an exam are two very different things. Also, studying days before and a good night's sleep the day of the test is much better for performance than no sleep and a caffeine headache.

no, coffee does NOT make you smarter... at least not exactly. coffee is filled with caffeine that may help you concentrate, especially if you're studying something that's pretty boring and you're getting the urge to snooze. the caffine stimulates your metalbilism, causing you to really perk up and help you not daydream while you're studying. just be warned that caffine is VERY addictive and if you drink too much of it, it becomes a habit that is extremely hard to break. often times you end up getting headaches, muscleaches, and really crabby if you don't get in your regular amount of coffee. but used in moderation, it has the chance of helping you pass your test. GOOD LUCK!

Caffeine, like a lot of ADHD medications, is a stimulant. It stimulates the central nervous system (CNS) which in turn speeds up physical and mental processes.

Caffeine increases dopamine levels in the same way that amphetamines do (heroine and cocaine also manipulate dopamine levels by slowing down the rate of dopamine re-uptake). Dopamine is a neurotransmitter that, in certain parts of the brain, activates the pleasure center. Obviously, caffeine's effect is much lower than heroin's, but it is the same mechanism.

It does wake me up and gets me going in the morning. I get a big boost of energy. Concentration? Noooo, it doesn't help me there. Sure wish it did! I would drink it all day long if that were the case. Couldn't drink it at night though. Not only is it a good eye opener in the AM. It will also KEEP YOU AWAKE at night if you drink a fresh cup close to bed time.

No, it just keeps you awake because of the caffeine. Of course, it can also make you jittery and sick if you drink to much , which won't help you out when you are takig your test. I don't drink ANY caffeine anymore and I feel like I am more motivated, focused and awake in the morning than ever before. When I used to drink caffeine I Needed it. It's like a drug.

NO.
Get good sleep, take vitamins caffeine will give you a false sense of alertness, bad combo for studying.Seems like to much will make it hard to concentration to me just going by the people I know who do it, when your sugar caffeine rush is gone you'll feel like crap. Try ginseng, sleep & good old multi-vitamins.
