Someone please have a answer...Please!!
My 99 Durango won't start yesterday,,acted as if battery was dead..So, I got a jump and all was fine. Went to Sears to see if possibly I needed a new battery. Turned D off and it wont restart. Started 10 mins later for Sears personnel and I was told battery, alternator, starter, etc were fine and working properly..."SOMETHING ELSE IS GROUNDED MY BATTERY" they said.."Something like what???" They had no response. So last night and this moring D starts fine. I stop to drop my child off to school and low and behold the D wont start.. Power locks wont work, Keyless entry wont work, and strange noise coming from the glove compartment. But the funny thing is interior lights work as well as the radio. Ended up getting another jump but, battery is not dead..How else would the lights and radio work...Any suggestions as to what's wrong with this Durango and maybe a possible fix

BTW,,battery is practically brand new. SUV DIEHARD only 1 yr old,,,no corrosion..Not the starter or altenator..Did a little research online a the problem may be the CTM(Central Timing Module) which explains all of my symptoms plus that infernal noise in the glovebox..Anybody else have any suggestions? Now where to get one cheap?

Sounds like a loose wire or bad starter or alternator. Trade in that POS dodge and get a Chevy.

I was reading about that module.... it does sound like that is the casue of your problems... try calling your local auto store.... one thing to check is that there is a big ground connection behind the right side (Passenger) panel, down at your foot..... there should be a nut with the ground wires... make sure the ground is tight and the wires arent broke.... dont give up on the Durango.... I have a 2003..... sometimes parts go bad..... that happens to all vehicles.....

Remove and clean the battery terminals.
There is scale between the terminal, and battery post.
It won't carry enough power to turn the engine over, but enough to run the radio.

Oh, and by the way...Sears auto tech. employees are stupid.

this sounds like it is your battery i had the smae problem with my ford f250 and i gota new battery and it worked
the reason your lights and radio still work is cause u have enough battery to work those but the engine need a whole lot more battery power to fire up
