Helmet, jacket, gloves, etc. goes without saying.

Tools are a good idea. I stopped getting flats right after I tossed a flat repair kit under the seat, go figure.

A cell phone can help as long as you're in an area that has coverage. Bring a friend on another bike, if you have trouble your friend can go for help if your phone doesn't work.

Maybe a bottle of water and a candy bar or something if I'm riding around for the day. More stuff if I'm out for a few days.

And a camera. I've got a cheap digital that fits in a shirt pocket that gets amazingly good pics.

Depends. Whenever I'm wearing clothes, I always have a knife, flashlight, smokes and lighter. If I'm just gonna ride around, I might grab my jacket, and 10 or 20 bucks for gas. Shopping? saddlebags, if needed. For an all day outing, I'll pick what gear I need for the expected weather, tool kit (if I remember it). Food and drink usually get picked up on the way. I might bring a large cup of coffee if I've got the cup-holder. That's a warm weather thing, I don't care for iced coffee. Camping for a week? That's when I make a list. Helmet in bad weather, cold, holiday traffic or crossing State lines.

number 1 in importance is tools, if you bring them, you won't need them, number 2 is a curvaceous companion, number 3 is an idea on where you are riding and what bars and restaurants are along the way, or you can bring a picnic. It isn't easy keeping food or beverages cold on a scooter though...unless you have hard saddlebags that you can use for a cooler, but really bring tools, if you do you'll never break down :)

When I had my kayak at seaside boatyard I'd ride there in farmer
john rubber from neck to ankle while wearing black knapsack containing flare pistol, PFD, pump, and water bottle. 2-piece paddle, diver mask with snorkle, and fins rode rear rack. In my
speleological pursuits I wear same farmer john under overalls,
while wearing black knapsack containing Justrite miners lamp with belt battery, water bottle, Jumars, Petzl Stop, 'biners, harness, chemical lights, crank powered flashlight, whistle,
leather gloves, and kneepads. Mountaineering helmet sits atop coiled 120' Goldline half-inch static and rides rear rack. Usual
Bell helmet, Red Wing forestry boots, Viking Marine Parka is
standard riding wear to sea and mountains. Have never under- stood why people think the ride alone is the only thing to focus on. To me its just a Yam-a-ha start and end of the action.

Just cruising around? Tools, some outer clothes, sunblock. Plus my normal riding clothes, gloves, bandanna etc. Longer trip make that maps, bottle of water, change of clothes, maybe sleeping bag and tent. I always carry a little 35mm camera just in case I want some pictures.

One thing I always bring along is a full rain suit. There is nothing dumber then getting soaked to the bone and making a dumb mistake because you are freezing cold. I always carry a rainsuit on every ride.

Everything, including the kitchen sink! I do! ask my boyfriend, he made me buy my own bike just to pack it all!
Really all ya need is cigs, lighter, carmex (for wind burned lips),money and license. Depending on weather I may take a jacket and/or chaps. I made me some denium chaps I wear over my shorts and take them off when I get where I am going. So I don't have to change into shorts! They are way too cool!
