There are a couple of reasons, the most obvious being the fact that the world essentially needs oil to do anything, whether it's driving your car to the store, heating your house, making plastics and other petroleum based products, etc.
Because oil is not a renewable resource, the price of it is going to continue to sky rocket (check out http://www.dailyfueleconomytip.com/?p=285 for a laundry list of reasons why oil will continue to rise) - and with the expansion of China and India's economies, oil is only going to get more and more precious.
Finally, the money in our world is what would be considered "fiat money," which means it isn't backed by gold - all it is is simply paper. Now, if gold were still closely tied to the world's currencies, this would be an entirely different story.

Only oil? Wake up -- Diamonds, Gold, Silver, Money, Money, Money, Money, Money, Power -- they all create terrorism. The use of religion as a means to provoke terrorism has been going on for thousands, if not millions of years. The belief that one religion is the only true religion has allowed the moneygrubbers to use religion as a catalyst and a red-herring to cover up the true cause of terrorism -- Money, Power, Greed!

Because oil runs our whole transportation system. When oil goes up....EVERYTHING goes up...and considering 90% of all bulk shipping is done by truck...you can see how that would affect everybody.
Gold looks nice....but it gets poor mileage...
As far as CREATING terrorism? I don't think so. It seems the terrorists don't like the way we run things. They feel we are going to hell in a handbasket and we're taking the world with us. Infedels we are. Most of these terroists are from OIL PRODUCING countries. So, I doubt they would attack thier favorite customers
If they REALLY wanted to get to us that way....they would just jack the price of oil to 200 bucks a barrel and watch us squirm financially

The money from oil was put into few hands.
Their kids grew up to spoil brats. They took daddy's money in quest to find enlightenment. They sound so nobel to do it for the poor. Liberals even bought that line.
Yet they did it for their own ego.
You knows the big head like bin and the rest are quick to order sucide bombings but they don't strap bombs to themselves and when caught sing like an opera.

The value of gold is artificial. It's valuable because people have assigned it a value, but it has little practical value.
Oil is essential to energy production and has a huge impact on the world economy. Currently, we can't maintain our modern lifestyle without oil.

There's not a lot of gold in Muslim countries, but there is a lot of oil in Muslim countries. Hmmm.. I wonder what the connection or common factor there could be...? Any ideas?
