I doubt it is a varicose vein if it is just blue in color and that is it. go here and read up on the symptoms to see if it is varocose vein - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Varicose_vein
SPIDER VEINS:
Otherwise what you have are spider veins (also known as Telangiectasias). Spider veins are the small (red or blue) superficial veins that so frequently accompany age and are associated with venous insufficiency. They may present as several small veins or significant clusters of veins. Usually they measure only a few millimeters. They develop anywhere on the body but commonly on the face around the nose, cheeks, and chin. They can also develop on the legs, specifically on the upper thigh, below the knee joint, and around the ankles.
Treatment:
Telangiectasias are often treated with laser or IPL therapy. There have been medication based treatments available for over 50 years. A Sclerosant medication is injected into the diseased vein so it hardens and eventually shrinks away.
On the Color:
Veins appear blue because the subcutaneous fat in the skin absorbs lower-frequency light, permitting only the highly energetic blue wavelengths to penetrate and reflect off human skin.

Are you tripping? If you look closely at your skin, you'll notice you can see many blue veins all over it. Freaky huh? I'll tell you what's even more freaky. They're still gonna be there when you come down. Whoa!
As humans get older, they sometimes notice things like varicose veins, gray hairs, and wrinkles cropping up. They just happen to stare at some body part one day and go, "Damn! When did that happen?" Varicose veins happen to both men and women, especially if they spend a lot of time on their feet. They often don't need treatment unless they are painful.
If you're not having any pain at, or below the area where the vein is, I wouldn't worry too much about it. If you actually happened to be looking at a spot on your leg and suddenly saw a blue vein rise to the surface of your skin, especially if it hurts, go to your local emergency room.

nothing, that happens as you age, if they protrude alot, you may need vein surgery. You probably stand alot and that makes them worse.
