Fabric is measured in inches so just multiply 36 inches X the width (say 48 inches) and divide by 144 (1 square foot) = 12 square feet in 1 yard. you should get the correct footage for any size fabric

yup. and you can have a calculator do it for you. try searching "conversion calculator", they have them for EVERYTHING. Here is an easy one to use, just type in "1" for the yards and then click on the "calculate" button

it will tell you that one yard equals 3 feet.

LENGTH X WIDTH = AREA
