Actually, during the summertime. the plant become active because of the warm weather and sun light to process the photosynthesis in order to gwt mor energy to store in the root underground. During the winter time, they dormant and become less active.

because it is alive. During its active life cycle, grass takes minerals (nutrients) from the soil and, with the help of sunlight, converts them into chlorophyll which gives it the green color. Same with leaves.
During the winter, the grass dies off, so no chlorophyll is being produced.

No, that's not it... chlorophyl is active when it's not dormant... must be warm not to be dormant.
