Check your media player and other music programs as well. Thats wierd but my i tunes was doing the same and i opened up my media player and turned the volume up in windows media player then when i opened my i tunes it was all better... i dont know why...

Are you talking about playing iTunes on your computer? [Which computer platform is it, PC or Mac?]
If it's your computer, then make sure the plug for the speakers is pushed all the way into the computer's speaker jack.
If that does not change anything, then use the computer's controls for the sound volume to adjust it.
If either of these does not help, then I would ask whether someone else uses your computer (and changed settings).

I tunes is notorious for errors and the are not smat enough to fix them. Try lime wire instead.
