Ammonia.

But READ the bottle.
It'll get rid of bed bugs, or cooties, or anything on your sheets that breathe.

Or Clorox. But READ the container.

Use a little less then a quarter cup of bleach let if fill with water all of the way and start to agitate then add your laundry. Your laundry will smell clean and fresh. If you have a front load do not do this.

If you have liquid dishsoap and vinegar use that. Don't use very much of the dishsoap though. Vinegar in the wash water will get rid of odors and the water will rinse it out and it won't leave it smelling like vinegar.

Use dish soap (about half as much) and 1/4 cup of baking soda. Baking soda cleans, softens and gets rid of odors. I use it in every load.

dishsoap works fine, just don't use a lot of it . it will create a lot more suds than laundry soap.

using anything other than laundry detergent runs you the risk of damaging your washer machine. don't do it... can you ask some neighbors for just a cup?
