I have never even seen a live door nail that I know of!!

All of the door nails I have seen were pretty freakin dead, I also have never seen a living door nail, so I wonder. =)

Doornails are the small metal plates that the door knocker hits. After a while the life gets pounded out of them and they need to be replaced. This goes back to the 14th century - Shakespeare uses it more than once.
