If you just trying to find out what wireless internet is or grasp an idea of how they work. Using a search engine, type wireless network or wireless internet.
There are different technologies involved here meaning different variations of wireless internet that have been implemented but only a few a most commonly used.
You will normally see wireless classified as 802.1x or 802.11 with a letter attached to it.
802.11a
802.11b
802.11g
and the newest technology that would be more popular later is 802.11n

search those in wikipedia and you can find tons of information on them, their different speed, frequency..range etc.

Have fun.
