You mention two ways, but there is a third way - like the Stone of Scone.

There is also, of course, the German way, with two dots over the 'o', and the Scandinavian way, with a line through the 'o', but perhaps most interesting is the secret Freemasonry way, which I must write [scone] in order to protect it from being uttered by the uninitiated, women & children. (You notice I can type it, but not pronounce it).

This plays a key role in the unique Freemasonry [scone] pot noodle, which must be eaten while blindfolded and with the left breast exposed and the right trouser leg rolled up.

Well, of course the Scots say "scone", whereupon the southerners say "scone"

I alternate. Sometimes I say "scone", and other times I say "scone"

It's so useful for you. Most men stay for a cup of tea afterwards- but you're here today scone tommorow!! You were only interested in the cherry cup cakes and muffins. You had your cake and ate it - no wonder you got caught in a traffic jam with all those tarts.

It varies - some people say 'scone' rhyming with 'on' & others say 'scone' rhyming with 'own' Me? I just enjoy 'em!
