those who see them as hypocrites are secular progressives who haven't read the Bible. if they had, they would know "eye for an eye".

Ah, so, a quintessential query....
I'm not within your pigeon hole description but will assay a few words form my own roost.
Maybe you will understand if the example is personalized to you a bit. If you had a little sister (daughter or mother), and saw a person that you somehow knew within reasonable certainty would beat her to death in the next week when you were no longer there, but had in your hands an instrument that would render you little sister's potential killer dead right then and that was the only way to stop the killer from harming her, would you kill him? This is an extreme and simplistic retrogression, however, if you are logical you will know that this holds the answer to your larger question about preemptive war.
It also holds true to some extent concerning the death penalty. But I disagree with the application of the death penalty in the USA. It is used far too often and isn't even handedly administered state by state and crime by crime, so it is not 'just'. And it is very final. We should have absolute life without parole sentences, served in exile on some island or mountain cave for a lot of crimes and reserve the death penalty for certain most heinous offenses, multiple killings of innocent people, extremely savage killings or rapes, crimes against humanity, etc. And then only use it when the case is proven beyond a doubt to everyone.

Both preemptive war and the death penalty save innocent lives by killing evil people who have proven they don't respect human life.
Wake up and smell the jihad.
As for Ted Haggard, he is a hypocrite, but just because hypocrites exist it in now way negates the validity of the message Jesus came to deliver. It only means that some people abuse Christianity for their own personal gain.

Where do you get the idea that being Christian and in favor of killing are mutually exclusive? God orders many people to go to war and kill in his name in the Old Testament. God also explicitly states that the death penalty is appropriate for murderers. I have never found any place in the Bible where God states that Christians are never supposed to protect themselves or their family.
The only time God or Jesus suggest a non-violent reaction to harm is in the New Testament where Jesus states that if you are slapped, you should "turn the other cheek". I suppose each person can interpret this differently, but as I understand it, Jesus is talking about minor offenses. Getting slapped is no big deal in the grand scheme of things, so turn the other cheek and don't worry about it. I don't see how you can interpret that as overriding God's previous command that the death penalty is the appropriate punishment for a murder. Obviously murder is a far more serious crime than a slap and deserves a different response.

it rather is an outstanding question and one I savor answering. i'm professional-life The death penalty is meant to punish an evil individual as adversarial to an harmless individual jointly with a fetus. although the situation is that harmless human beings do die interior the death penalty. weapons whilst used top look after human beings, it rather is a distinctive certainty that places with looser gun regulations have decrease crime expenditures. So surely possessing a gun will shrink the probabilities of somebody getting killed. As for conflict, I even have been puzzled approximately this one at present myself. i could be attentive to how conflict is on occasion mandatory yet no longer civilian casualties and not preemptive conflict. so as this is my handle it.

These people are no different than the liberals complaining about war, but will kill an unborn child without so much as a backward glance. The hypocrites calling the hypocrites a hypocrite.
The logic is that more lives will be saved. To put it in simpler terms, sometimes you have to break a few eggs to make an omelet.

I always dislike answering a question with a question, but in this case I think an exception needs to be made.
How can atheist liberals encourage the killing of the unborn and support euthanizing the mentally disabled/handicapped and defend the lives of murderers and rapists?
It works both ways guy.
Barb...hypocrisy knows no bounds...con AND lib.

true christians dont believe in war or death or anything like that. unfortunately people today associate themselves with christianity and make it look awful. these people are not christians but merely people who claim a religion they know nothing of nor demonstrate the teachings of. they mold the beliefs to fit what is good for and convenient for their lives - as most of the world does with their respective religions (unfortunately). actions speak louder than words, as they say.

Because they are almost as big a hypocrites as "liberals" who champion "freedom of speech" for everyone except those they disagree with.
Preemptive war and the death penalty work, that's a nother reason they back those partiocular concepts.
Preemptive war - takes the conflict to the enemy before he brings it to you. Hit hard, hit quick, kill'em all - let "god" sort'em out.
Death penalty - kill the killer - then the chance of recidivism is...umm....0%.
Don't you have a tree to go hug or something?

how can someone against the death penalty and preemptive war back killing defenseless babies in the womb? when they are the most innocent of the three? see, i can do it too. does it make me right, or maybe it makes you wrong for trying to play the moral equivalency card.
those who will not stand for something, will fall for anything.
God never said we should not fight evil or wrong in the world. i for one believe it is morally imperative that we do fight evil. there REALLY ARE things WORTH FIGHTING AND DYING FOR. it does not really matter to me what you think of this because morally, i know I'm right.
