Scotland produces enough energy current (we're the number 14th renewable energy producer in the world) to generate power for roughly half the homes in Scotland.

I believe the article states 1gigawatt of power is generated daily be renewable sources in Scotland.

I'm not so sure about ruining the tourist industry by ruining the scenery with windmills and pylons!
