I have a really big history project due in a while. What I have to do is write a 7 paged (double spaced) university style paper (even though im just in the 11th grade) answering the question "To what extent did ___(my topic here)___ influence the development of the 20th / 21st century?

I want a topic that has to do with animals. I was thinking something like animal shelters or animal cruelty laws but I cant find enough information.

Can you guys help me out please? If you have any other worthwhile topics that would help...it could be anything...but i prefer animals. If you guys know any websites i could check that would have helpful information, that would help me out.

Please be serious about this, I dont have time to look through "funny" answers.

Use cell phones. Can't think of anything with animals that had that much effect.

Try "an Industrial Approach to farming". Many animals are now raised in dreadful conditions with some having not enough room to turn. Sheep are exported live (think of the stress!) from Australia to Muslim countries because the slaughter needs to be appropriate to religious practices.
Not a comfortable subject, but important. You could widen the subject by including the breeding of animals for use in medical research.
Sensible Google choices will give you masses.

I think you would be limiting your self to animals...in my opinion...I'm sorry! REASON - LIMITS

I think a good topic would be along the ideas of

To what extend did communications influence the development of the 20 & 21 st century.

To what extend did the media influence the development of the 20 and 21st Century.

Both of these topics are very wide in range and you will be able to go anywhere with this...starting with steam technology, to gas power motors, the importance of fossil fuels, automobiles, trains, planes, busses etc.,

Run with it!!!

First, YOU should be preparing for college...11th grade is actually a little late.

If you want to write on animals you might consider the Meat Packing Plant Industry as discussed in "The Jungle" by U. Sinclair.
Its of course as much about people which you MIGHT find MORE intriguing to write about in the context of this paper. This book referenced issues that brought about SIGNIFICANT reform in terms of labor, safety and consumer and health issues. It was really was the start of the Progressive movement, and provides the backdrop for modern day bureaucracy in the Federal government.

but I am a poli sci teacher so perhaps i am biased. good luck with your paper...sounds very interesting

Aren't you starting a little late writing research papers. I'm in eighth grade and I've already written 3 soon to be four.

A good topic might be computers and technology. You should be able to find plenty of information on it.

Maybe the practice of cattle farming? when it became well known how did it effect 20/21st? or the commercial dog food industry. Its fact dogs suffer from more diseases and have a shorter life span since mass produced food. Why I wont tell you. Look up a book Food pets die for. I bet your paper will be unforgettable.

Try horses, horses were the main mode of all transportation, at one time. It's a full topic with plenty of material, give it some thought.
Cruelty to horses became a great issue, why? Was there a specific person that championed the cause? Why?

Do it on the crockadile hunter Steve Irwin.

This should be the format.

and so on.

Formulas for writing are important as they add organization to any paper. I would do it on Steve Irwin because finding information on him will be easy and you will have plenty of information for a good paper.
