The problem with a “world culture” is that we give up so much of our own past in the process. Each culture has its own rites, histories, and mythologies. Through these rites and myths our ancestors had a means to initiate young men and women into society. There were rites of manhood, and passages to womanhood. Through myths they learned values and morals that guided their societies.

Multiculturalism does not allow for these rites. We do not recognize the myths of our ancestors as more than bedtime stories. We are forever children, lost at sea in a ship without a rudder. We turn to adopting our own individual moral codes…codes that benefit the individual and not the society in which we live.

We should recognize the cultures around the world and accept them for the good within them, but no one should force any person to accept another’s cultures, values, or ideals.

a good thing. America would not be the same without all the different cultural aspects. I love the wide variety of foods from a-z from all the different cultures. and the different looks. If all the flowers were the same shape and color it would be dull. same with people. and the holidays and celebrations are interesting. everything here is from a blending of many cultures.

Good thing in my own opinion as long as people know who they really are and everyone is willing to accept everyone elses differences. As long as they dont try to be anyone else than who they are- then it is fine with me....
