If you are in the US and the language is Spanish, its definitely worth it. If you picked another language, it depends--so let me give you some things I noticed to help you make your mind up.
If you are planning to visit a country that speaks the language or otherwise use it, it would be good to take a fourth year--the first three years give you enough knowledge to try to communicate, but you probrably won't feel like you speak the language until you've had another year.
If you don't plan on using the language you are learning, you'll forget it pretty quickly. Some of it will stick with you, but once you are out of practice that knowledge will fade.
Colleges look at strength of schedule when recruiting you. Yes four languages looks good, but so does extra science or math or anything with the 'AP' label. Don't drop a language for an easy class, but if you take anything challenging in that time slot it will look good for colleges.
When you get to college, you may want to take a language there. If so, are you going to want to take something advanced, like literature in a foreign language (if so, take that fourth year), if you are only interested in learning to speak it, you could skip the fourth year and take a class in college to refresh yourself.
Guess its not an answer, but I hope it helped.

I took 2 years of Spanish in High School. Before that, I learned a little here and there. In college, I still had to take a year of it, and I learned more in that year than in all the time leading up to that point. So, unless you plan on going to the country of origin of the language you want to take for 4 years, no, I don't think so.

I think it is. It's awesome to be able to speak another language, esp. if you like travelling.
