I am not familiar with what a health museum is, but I have taken my children to a science museum a number of times. We have 3 "hands-on" science museums within a 1 1/2 hour drive from our home. Each has a variety of stations set up for the kids to try different activities. I take my children there because it is fun and educational. If the weather is too rainy in the summer to go to the beach or too cold in the winter to go sledding, we might decide to take a road trip to one of the museums. I have gone to one of the museums several times as a parent chaperone for class field trips. It is an enrichment activity for our 3rd grade curriculum when they do a unit on simple machines. The museum also offers special classes to schools where college students present workshops and run labs to complement a specific unit of study.

Yes. We've been to a couple different ones. The ones where you can interact are best. My kids love to go and see how different things work and how life has evolved. We went to a dinosaur museum in Baltimore. They were in absolute awe of the different sizes and other info about them. I take them so they can learn and because they enjoy it. And that makes it good quality family fun. It's a win - win.
