Multiculturalism is an attack on our common culture. It is an attempt by politicians (and their shills in mainstream media) to divide us. When immigrants come to the US, they are supposed to assimilate and become Americans. Immigrants have been doing this for hundreds of years. All of a sudden, they are being encouraged not to. The question is why?
And the answer is Divide and Conquer. When immigrants do not assimilate, they are unable to get good jobs. Not being fluent in the common language, English, relegates a person to a menial, low-paying job. These un-assimilated immigrants will naturally associate with each other and shun the rest of us. They will begin to resent us. In turn, we will begin to resent them, and tell them to go back where they came from. That is the result of multiculturalism.
Anyone can become an American. But to become an American, you need to assimilate. You need to learn the language. There is nothing wrong with being able to speak in your native language, as long as you realize that we are not going to accommodate you. This is American. We speak English here.
My resentment is not toward immigrants (legal). Even when they don't seem to make much of an effort to learn English. It is our politicians who are the cause of the problem. They are the ones who encourage this lack of assimilation.

While we think of it as multiculturalism, in other words while we notice people have different cultures or religions, it could be a road to disaster. Only when we rise up and are blind to those features, stop comparing Black to White, Bible to Qu'ran, will it really be a good thing.

It would be a wonderful thing if we could agree on basic courtesy between us. No one should have to leave behind their native cultures completely in order to become Americans. They should, however, at least learn to speak the language, and learn the basic norms of American social practices. With these things out of the way, we could create a strong and unified society, that is not divided based on silly things such as differences in religion or family structure.

I live in a multicultural society. We adapt pretty well - they would have the occassional upset, but its all in human nature! Africans, Chinese, Indians, Syrians and a few minor races are all in our mix!
Our people unite for various celebrations regardless of race, wealth, status, etc. Our country is run by a diverse section of different types of races and there is no racial disharmony (except by those who want to cause trouble)
